ONGAWA Engineering for Human Development, is a Non Government Organization for Development funded in 1991 whose mission is to apply Technology for sustainable human development, in order to build up a fairer and more supportive society.
ONGAWA has more than 25 years of experience in development programs, having reached more than 500.000 people worldwide. ONGAWA, through the implementation of international cooperation projects, programs and technical assistance in Sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America, wants to set innovative practices, to generate evidences for scaling up, and to identify and promote good practices and lessons learnt to contribute to poverty reduction.
ONGAWA has five main areas of work: water and sanitation, information and communication technologies, energy, agriculture and environment. ONGAWA´s activities include the provision of services, technical and social feasibility studies, technical assistances, capacity building, applied research, trainings and knowledge management. ONGAWA´s approach follows a human rights based approach with a strong gender focus.
TFCG was established in 1985. With over 20 years of experience, it is the largest Tanzanian non-governmental organisation focusing on the conservation of natural forests.
It focuses in Tanzania’s most important forests: the Eastern Arc Mountains and Coastal Forests. The forests and the plants and animals that they support provide many ecological services including capturing and storing greenhouse gases that might otherwise contribute to climate change; water catchment; biodiversity; pollination; and soil protection.

Muheza is one of the nine Districts in Tanga Region. It has a total area of 1,974 square kilometers and a total population of 204,461(2012 census) whereby male 100,843 (49.3%) and female103, 618 (50.7%), the number of household is 47,920 with household size 4.3. Muheza District divided into 4 divisions comprising 33 wards 135 villages.and 522 hamlets.
Muheza District is located in Northeastern Tanzania. The district lies west, south of Tanga City, and bordered by Mkinga to the north, Pangani in the south and Korogwe District.
The district council consist of 33 elected members from wards , the member of parliament representing the constituency within the council and one third of women special seats members 11 and other Special Seats Women Member Of Parliament within the area of Jurisdiction of the council.

The School of Earth and Environment has one of the largest research clusters of environmental and social scientists in the UK and internationally.
To date, Sokoine University of Agriculture is one of the top university in Tanzania that offers training programmes in the broad field of agriculture.
The University offers 52 PhD and Masters programmes in various field and profession, 28 Undergraduate degree programmes, 4 post – graduate diploma Programmes, 5 Ordinary Diploma programmes and 1 certificate programme in Information Technology.
